This template is built around two worksheets. The first sheet, Población CyL, holds the raw municipal data for the whole Castilla y León region. It includes columns for municipality name, postal code, total population, number of men and number of women. A filter is already set on the header row (A1:E1) so you can quickly isolate the municipalities that belong to the province assigned to you by filtering the Código Postal column for the appropriate prefix (e.g., 05xxx for Ávila, 37xxx for Salamanca).

The second sheet is named after the province you are working on. In this sheet you will find four key cells (B2‑B5) that automatically calculate the province’s total population, total men, total women and the count of municipalities using simple SUM and COUNTA formulas that reference the filtered rows on the first sheet. The cells are pre‑formatted with bold labels, background colours and borders that match the example image, so the final report looks polished without extra styling work. Below the summary table, a ready‑to‑use chart area is prepared; once you select the male and female totals, the template inserts a column or pie chart that displays the gender breakdown, complete with a title, legend and data labels showing both absolute numbers and percentages.

This workbook is ideal for students, teachers, or local analysts who need a fast, repeatable way to turn raw census data into a concise demographic snapshot. It solves the common problem of manually filtering, summing and charting data for each province, eliminating repetitive copy‑and‑paste and reducing the risk of calculation errors. By automating the core calculations and providing a clean visual output, the template lets you focus on interpreting the results rather than wrestling with Excel mechanics.

How to use

  1. Open the file, rename the first tab to Población CyL, and apply the filter on row 1 if it isn’t already active.
  2. In the Código Postal column, filter for the postal‑code prefix that matches your assigned province.
  3. Create a new sheet named after that province, then copy the pre‑filled formulas into cells B2‑B5; the formulas will automatically sum the filtered rows from the first sheet.
  4. Select the male and female totals, insert the suggested chart type, and adjust the title and legend as shown.

Expected benefits: the template cuts the time needed to produce a province‑level demographic report from hours to minutes and ensures consistent formatting across all assignments.
